Las Vegas - The Family Fantasyland

Travel and Leisure April 5th, 2008

If you are looking for some fun things to do in Las Vegas with the family, keep in mind that Vegas is a city abounding in lights, action and feverish excitement. Most of the attractions will have one, if not all, of these ingredients for fun!

The Nevada Zoological and Botanical Park is a great way to spend a day. While this is by no means the world’s largest zoo, it is a great place to take your kids and visit the wildlife (well, the animal kind!). Some of the animals you might see include chimpanzees (usually a hit with the little ones), emus, ostriches, wallabies, and flamingos. You can also choose to take a full or half day eco tour of the desert. These tours give you a great insight into the desert, while providing a rich educational experience, disguised as fun, for your children.

You are going to forgot something, no matter how much you pack. Shopping for these items at your new destination is a fun way to explore. Plus you’ll have some souvenirs (e.g. “hey, these are the socks we bought in Barbados!”)

2. The above rule does NOT apply to carry-on luggage.
Being stranded with a young child and no snacks, juice, entertainment, or clean shirt is a caper you must avoid.

Beautiful Day? Take The Kids To One Of These Orange County Places

Travel and Leisure February 10th, 2008

Orange County California has some wonderful places to take our small fry for some good old-fashioned outdoor fun-it always been that way. When my sister and I were growing up in Los Alamitos, my mom would take us to several beaches and parks on a regular basis. When my kids were growing up, I took them to the same great spots. And now, my grandchildren will get to do the same! Okay, one isn’t born yet, and the other is a mere seven months old, but I think you can see that when you have “an oldie, but a goodie”-they’re going to keep being around generation after generation!
